Yesterday was good because of the news from the physio but then me and Ash went for a run and I set my fastest average speed for any run. 10.4kmph over 8km which I think was in about 42 minutes which is a fair bit faster than I have run before. I am going to put most of this down to running with some one else to push me along a bit but also the new running shoes seem to make life a lot easier.
Turbo trainer and core work out this evening and then time to make home made soup…

The last couple of sessions with the physio have been quite demoralising because I have come away with the same exercises and did not seem to be making much progress. Today was a different matter, after two weeks of the Xmas holidays and regularly doing the exercise that she set before the Xmas holidays I have now been given a whole new set of exercises including using weights and thera band work. I also don’t have to go back for two weeks because she said that the exercises were working better with more time between each visit saving me some money.
Whilst I have been running I have had to get some one to tape the shoulder which was going to cause problems because Ash is on holiday next week but I have been shown a new way to do this on my own which gives me a lot more independence to go running when I want.
From my little bit of doom and gloom over the last few months it seems that there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

I maybe not be able to cycle but I can still:-
- Run
- Hike
- Turbo Train
- Core Work Outs
Time to stop being lazy and get back into a proper routine instead of being lazy and sitting around the house watching TV.
N.B. Nothing like stepping on the scales after xmas to get some motivation I tell you.

Its been a mixed barrel trying to plan for what to do in 2009 because I am not really sure what is going to happen with my shoulder at this stage. Currently I can only run so I decided I might think about a marathon some time late in the year. To keep me focused on this training I have entered a 10km run in April which is actually my normal 10km run around the park but means I can start working on adding speed to the distance ready for the run.

I have not posted for a while as I have not really had much to say. No biking over the last few months and by reports from the physio no real biking for the next couple so I have tried to settle down to running two to three times a week which has been going quite well. I have settled for using twitter.com for my random thoughts at the moment as there is not as much to write about running.
Belated Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year

Well I am now down to one form of exercise after my arm nearly fell out of its socket the next day from running. So 50 minutes of hard cycling on the turbo trainer and I am feeling a little less like a slob…
Guess its just going to be a case of doing the exercises and building the strength in my shoulder slowly while trying to keep up some form of exercise for the moment.

A good run in the end even after a pretty major mistake, when I got to the top of the road I turned left instead of turning right. I suppose its not that major but it knocked a good 2km’s of the planned route. Instead I just added a bit longer on the end running down into Dundrum and back up again which added a little hill in the run and some more distance.
I felt pretty good for the whole run and enjoyed running a complete route instead of doing the same lap a few times. In the end I did 55.55mins 8.47km 9.1kmph or 10′33″ min/mile which is pretty close to the definition or running instead of jogging which is the 10 min/mile.

I have been looking for another route to run other than the route around the local housing estate so here is the plan for tonight. 7.5km at a nice steady pace should do the job… and hopefully my arm wont fall outs its socket half way round.

How life sometimes sucks, I have just got back from the physio and they suggested that I dont do any mountain biking and very minimal cycling for upto six weeks until I have sorted my shoulder out. I have a problem called sloppy shoulder, basically my right shoulder sits forward and down about 2-3 cms from where it should and cycling into a tree a couple of weeks back has just made it worse.
The good side is that I can still go running and use the tubro trainner if I dont put to much pressure on the shoulder so looks like it might be time to change my training reigime.
The exercise she gave me were:-
- Sit and lift the shoulder back into the correct position (10 X 10 seconds) but I should also try to maintain this position while I am at my computer working during the day
- Lying on my back put the shoulder into the correct position and then try lift my hand up backwards (10 x 10 seconds).
- Lying on my front put my hand on my bum and my shoulder rested on an object and lift the shoulder into the correct position (10 x 10 seconds).
