I have been up to my eyes since Friday with friends weddings and work so no time to write stuff up but here is my run down:-
Saturday:-
Aborted single speed ride consisting of 5km of impossible to ride mud
Sunday:-
20km Single speed ride on the derrorra trail centre
Monday:-
Rest - Had a hard day back at work
Tuesday:-
Running - 7.65km @ 9.4kmph - 49.06mins
Wednesday:-
45km @ 22kmph
The week is slowly calming down but I am off to see the physio tomorrow as my shoulder is still causing problems from cycling into a tree. It is fine on the road but I wont be riding in the club championships this weekend as I need to rest my shoulder.

I did not finish work so early today becuase I have been very busy so I went out and did my usual run but backwards just for a bit of a change. The legs felt good and I felt like I could have run quicker but held back as I dont want to go getting and injury when I am just starting regular running.
Distance: 4.75km
Time: 28.10 Mins
Speed: 9.9 kmph
Think I might do this route a few more times and then add a bit more distance over the coming months. The IMRA runs start again after xmas and I would like to do these to start adding some proper hills into my runs.

Round and round we go, well thats what it felt like this evening. I did 4 laps but I lost count at one point and took me the rest of the way home to work out how many I had actually done. The weather was better than usual but forgot the garmin so no idea actually how fast I was going. ~55km in total and really enjoying the base miles…

Monday is my running day, well from last week any way. I went out and did the same route as last week which is just around the local estates but my legs felt a lot better running…
Distance: 4.75km
Average Speed: 10kmph
Time: 28.22
Last time I did the same route in just over 30 minuites so I am happy I knocked a couple of minuites off my time without even trying.

Its always a little strange I think when a mountain bike club goes on road spin, but thats what we did today and it turned out to be a good spin. The wind was not to bad and then rain mostly stayed away so the pace was fast helped by the facy that it was a fairly flat spin. In the end I did 98km and 500m climbing with an average speed of about 26kmph which I was farily happy with as its my first long spin in a while.

So last week I cycled into a tree…. This week I spill a cup of tea all over my work laptop the day before I am meant to be sending a couple of projects to our customers. They come in three’s so the question is what next?
The week exercise wise started with a run and has been getting better since, I got blown up and down the park last night in the rain and managed 55km and today I did a slower but equally hard 35km in as much wind just a bit less driving rain.
Oh the joys of riding in the winter… Though to be honest I have to say I am actually quite enjoying it at the moment…

New forks
Last night we headed up into three rock to ride some trails, its been a week or so since I last went out on the single speed so headed up feeling tired but pretty good. The climb up the road to the Ariel’s was good and I only had to stop once which was what I kind of expected. There were big plans to head up to three rock but the weather was pretty bad so we settled for the normal trails, on the drop in to the first drop my suspension bottomed out and nearly sent me into a tree which was the story for the rest of the evening. I enjoyed the riding but I just cant seem to set the suspension up correctly on the forks I have got on my single speed.
Alas this morning I was looking at new forks on CRC and found a set of Rock Shock Recon for half price so decided to get them as they have lockout which should make climbing on the single speed a lot easier. They still seem to have some left if any one is interested:- Link to rock shocks
Stats for the ride were:-
Lap 1 (Up and around)
- Start Time: 2008-11-11 19:22:57
- Total Time Seconds: 4620.88 (~77 minuites)
- Distance Meters: 11762.39
- Average Speed: 9.16
Lap (Down the hill) - Think I must have presses the lap button
- Start Time: 2008-11-11 21:02:21
- Total Time Seconds: 548.9 (~9 minuites)
- Distance Meters: 3768.18
- Average Speed: 24.71

My Training Plan (Week 1)
I always used to love swimming as a kid and as such have always had a love for the water which I think comes from my canoeing days. It is also a very good way to keep fit when you dont have a large amount of time, so a couple of weeks ago I found a pool down the road from work and started going swimming a couple of times a week.
At about the same time I started think that maybe it would be nice to have some one to tell me the best way to train. Also to keep me on the straight and narrow so I dont over train or end up like a couch potato. Trio very kinly stepped to do this role and this week I had my first proper training session in the pool which was very different to just swimming up and down for thirty minuites like I would normally do.
The training session was quite easy compared to pushing your self hard for thirty minuites doing lengths up and down the pool but felt a lot more specific so actually felt more rewarding at the end. I have to do this routine once more this week which I am looking forward to.
Thank you Trio for helping…
